[INTRO]

Gimme, gimme love, gimme sex, gimme Rock N’ Roll!

—————————————-
Asphalt Valentine – Living Dreams
—————————————-

Welcome to the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show, your weekly dose of Hard Rock, Metal, and Hair Bands from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and 20-teens, including the latest new releases, your old favorites, and deep cuts and rare hair.

My name is Pariah Burke, and I’m your hard talking, heavy drinking, hairball of a horny hedonist host.

Thank you for joining me.

You just heard new HighVolMusic artist Asphalt Valentine. That song, “Living Dreams,” is the first of 8 new Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Hair Band songs you’re going to hear over the next two hours. You’re also going to hear recent hits and deep cuts, and plenty of your old favorites–like this one.

—————————————-
Mötley Crüe – Kickstart My Heart
L.A. Guns – The Devil Made Me Do It
—————————————-

“The Devil Made Me Do It” from LA Guns’s 2017 The Missing Piece LP, the first album in 14 years to reunite Tracii Guns and Phil Lewis. Before LA Guns was Sunset Strip contemporaries Motley Crue with “Kickstart My Heart.”

Ready for your first Cover Song of the Week clue? Remember: the first clue is always the hardest, the one meant to strain the most encyclopedic of Rock N’ Roll brains.

The Cover Song of the Week is by a Finnish-Canadian band formed in 2010. Their tagline is “a band with a story to tell,” and they’ve given us albums with titles like Captivity, Road Stories, and MetroRose.

More and easier clues coming up.

This is Airbourne with “Boneshaker.”

Airbourne – Boneshaker
—————————————-

Coming up is Warrant, Dangerous Toys, Dead Man’s Whiskey, and two new song premieres.

Are you ready to fight? You better be, because we’re getting into it with Dead Man’s Whiskey and Warrant. It’s “This Fight.”

—————————————-
Dead Man’s Whiskey – This Fight
Warrant – Big Talk
—————————————-

“Big Talk” from Warrant, a song that turned 30 this year, making it a Dirty 30, just Motley Crue’s “Kickstart My Heart” that you heard earlier. There are a bunch of Dirty 30s on this week’s show from the likes of Poison, XYZ, Tesla, Tora Tora, and, coming up right after this brand new track from Nashville trio Goodbye June, is a Dangerous Toys hit turning 30.

From their upcoming 2019 Earache Records/Cotton Valley Music LP Community Inn, which drops October 25th, this is the brand new song “Universal Mega Love” from Goodbye June on Hard, Heavy & Hair.

—————————————-
Goodbye June – Universal Mega Love
Dangerous Toys – Teas’n, Pleas’n
Random Hero – Tension
—————————————-

I snuck in another new song debut. That was “Tension” from Denver-based Christian Metallers Random Hero. That’s the title track to their new LP produced by Kellen McGregor from Memphis May Fire and is available now on Rockfest Records.

Before that was Dirty 30 “Teas’n, Pleas’n” from Dangerous Toys.

Coming up is System of a Down, new Slipknot, another Cover Song of the Week clue, and more.

Ready for brand new Slipknot?! It’s coming up right after this System of a Down classic, “Chop Suey.”

—————————————-
System of a Down – Chop Suey!
Slipknot – Nero Forte
—————————————-

Brand new Slipknot from the We Are Not Your Kind album out now on Elektra. “Nero Forte” is the title, which translates to “Black Strong” in English.

Going back 30 years and 9 months, from the Great Radio Controversy, this is “Heaven’s Trail (No Way Out)” by Tesla.

—————————————-
Tesla – Heaven’s Trail (No Way Out)
Eclipse – Blood Wants Blood
—————————————-

That was “Blood Wants Blood,” one of my favorite tracks from the new Eclipse LP Paradigm. That song isn’t one of the album’s singles, so you’re not going to hear it played anywhere but the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show.

Something else exclusive to the show is the Cover Song of the Week, a mystery game we play. I’ve got your second clue right now. Ready?

The 1969 Cover Song of the Week original’s lyrics were inspired by the 1941 film The Devil And Daniel Webster in which a farmer makes a deal with the Devil, and a hurricane wipes out most of a town. The song is about a coming apocalypse. It’s a heavily covered song with versions by Bruce Springsteen, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bo Diddley, Type-O Negative, Nirvana, Rasputina, and many, many others.

Think about it.

Coming up in the next hour of the show is more Dirty 30s, a birthday request FROM a Dirty 30, Metallica, Steelheart, and more. Don’t go away.

We’re back with Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.”

—————————————-
Poison – Every Rose Has Its Thorn
—————————————-

Can you believe that song turned 30 years old this year?

Speaking of Dirty 30s, I’ve got a request here from Jessica Frehley. Jessica is one of the biggest fans of both the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show and of the Glam Metal band Steelheart. This time, Jessica writes, quote “Pariah, you have the sexiest red hair and facial hair that i’ve ever saw in my life!” End quote.

Well, thank you, Jessica! I’m flattered!

She goes on to say, “I have a 30th birthday coming up in two weeks and I would love to hear Steelheart’s ‘Gimme Gimme’ to help me get in the partying mood.”

So, just like many of the songs I’ve been playing on this week’s show, Jessica was also released in 1989.

Well of course I’ll play you your Dirty 30 birthday request, Jessica! Even without the flattery, though I very much appreciate that, too. Here you go.

—————————————-
Steelheart – Gimme Gimme
—————————————-

A request for birthday girl Jessica Frehley, Steelheart’s “Gimme Gimme”. Happy birthday, Jessica! And thank you for being such a loyal fan of the show.

This is brand new The Raven Age, “Fleur de lis” on Hard, Heavy & Hair.

We’ll be right back after these messages from my friends.

From the heart of London and inspired by the David Benioff historical fiction novel, comes British Hard Rock band City of Thieves. The band, they say, is a vehicle to bring you a first-hand commentary on the inner workings of such a place where corruption and deceit lies just beneath a thin crust of intoxication and wild nights, and provides a scream of defiance to maintain the proud heritage and restore the city’s former glory.

Bold mission. Let’s see how they do. This is “Fuel and Alcohol” by City of Thieves.

—————————————-

—————————————-

That was City of Thieves with a prescription for a great frakkin’ life–spend all your money on fuel and alcohol.

[Clip – Bill & Ted’s: “Excellent” ]

Let’s flip it 180-degrees with the beautiful acoustic version of “Save Me” by Shinedown.

—————————————-
Shinedown – Save Me (acoustic)
Cinderella – Coming Home
—————————————-

Cinderella “Coming Home.” We’ll be right back with Metallica, Outlier, and XYZ.

I hope you like Metallica, because we’re going to be listening to them for the next 7 minutes and 56 seconds. This is 2010’s “The Day That Never Comes” followed by brand new Ovtlier.

—————————————-
Metallica – The Day That Never Comes
Ovtlier – Spineless
—————————————-

“Spineless,” the very latest from New York New Metal four-piece Ovtlier.

The Cover Song of the Week is just around the corner, so it’s time for your third and final clue.

The original is one of the most famous examples of misheard song lyrics–a mondegreen–one that even the singer-songwriter has gotten wrong. Many people think the lyric is “there’s a bathroom on the right,” something the singer, John Fogerty, often had fun with by pointing to a nearby bathroom when singing the song on stage.

Think you know it? Find out after XYZ “Inside Out,” a Dirty 30 from the band’s 1989 self-titled debut album.

—————————————-
XYZ – Inside Out
—————————————-

Any Given Sin, Tora Tora, and the Cover Song of the Week are next.

[COW]

What song contains the line so many sing as “a bathroom on the right”? It’s a line John Fogerty himself once sang wrong himself–during the Premonition concert. I’m sure you already know that song, the Cover Song of the Week original, is “Bad Moon Rising” by Creedence Clearwater Revival. It’s a song about a coming apocalypse. The lyrics to the song were inspired by the 1941 film The Devil And Daniel Webster in which a farmer makes a deal with the Devil, and a hurricane wipes out most of a town.

“Bad Moon Rising” resonates with the human psyche so much that, that it’s been covered dozens of times by the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bo Diddley, Type-O Negative, Nirvana, Anne and Gretchen Wilson, and Rasputina, among others.

Another artist moved to put their spin on the song is Finnish-Canadian Hard Rock and Classic Rock band Forth–F-O-R-T-H–named for founder and vocalist Brian Forth. And Forth’s version of “Bad Moon Rising” is the Cover Song of the Week, followed immediately by the CCR original.

With he followup to their hit single “Dynamite,” this is new Any Given Sin on Hard, Heavy & Hair. This is “Another Life” produced by Chris Dawson from SAUL and Seasons After.

—————————————-
Any Given Sin – Another Life
—————————————-

Powerful new track “Another Life” from Any Given Sin. They remind me of an early Shinedown. I expect big things from Any Given Sin.

If you missed any part of this show, you can stream it again on-demand 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, from PariahRocks.com, that’s P-A-R-I-A-H-R-O-C-K-S-dot com. You can reach out to me on Twitter and Instagram @PariahRocks . Like the Hard, Heavy & Hair page on Facebook to let me know you’re listening.

Tora Tora is going to play us out with one last Dirty 30 for this week.

I’m Pariah Burke, your hard talking, heavy drinking, hairball of a horny host and producer. Thank you for listening.

Now it’s time we both put on our “Walkin’ Shoes.”
